Interstate Carriers
Bus companies operating in interstate commerce through Arkansas should register with their base state and report the number of vehicles they plan to operate in each state. The appropriate fees will be paid to the base state and distributed proportionately to other states as required.

Intrastate Carriers
Bus companies operating in intrastate commerce should first acquire the necessary authority from the Arkansas State Highway Commission. After receiving said authority, the carrier must submit proof of adequate liability insurance, a tariff or schedule of rates and charges and pay a fee equivalent to $5 per vehicle of operation.

STATE SALES TAX

Arkansass state retail sales tax is 6.00%. Many cities have a local innkeepers tax, a special food tax and/or liquor tax.
