“Walmart is proud to present such top talent for the opening act at the Walmart AMP,” said Mark Henneberger, vice president of shows and events for Walmart, in a press release. “Blake Shelton will help us kick off a great opening season for this state-of-the-art facility that will bring a new level of excitement to the local community.”

Peter Lane, president & CEO of Walton Arts Center/Walmart AMP said, “We are excited to welcome the community to the new Walmart AMP. Walmart’s support in building this great new venue has been invaluable and we are grateful to them for securing such a fun and talented artist.  The Walmart AMP will position Northwest Arkansas as a key stop on concert tours, serving a broader audience and creating more economic activity for our entire region.”

Blake Shelton has earned superstar status with a slew of No. 1 singles, high-charting albums and rugged good-looks. In 2001, Blake’s first ever single, “Austin,” shot straight to the top and became one of the most successful debut singles in country music history. Shelton continues to captivate audiences with his ability to straddle the line between contemporary and traditional country with hit singles such as “The Baby,” “Home,”  “She Wouldn’t Be Gone,” “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” “All About Tonight” and “Hillbilly Bone.”

Shelton’s most recent album, Based on a True Story, was released in 2013 and includes “Sure Be Cool If You Did,” “Boys ‘Round Here” and “Mine Would Be You.” His current single is “Doin’ What She Likes.” Many know Blake as the breakout star of NBC’s “The Voice,” a show that gave this Oklahoman the spotlight his fans knew he deserved all along.

The Walmart AMP

Walmart is the founding title sponsor for the Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) known as the Walmart AMP. Walton Arts Center purchased the AMP in February 2011 as part of an expansion strategy to meet the growing demand for more arts and entertainment in the region. Over the past two years, the AMP has experienced tremendous growth and helped further the mission of Walton Arts Center.

Construction on the new, permanent amphitheater began last October and will be complete by June 1. The new amphitheater will have strong technical capabilities, seating capacity for 7,000+ (3,000 covered and 4,000+ in the lawn), new food and beverage options, accessible parking, air-conditioned restrooms and the largest stage house in the state—all set in a vibrant commercial district with restaurants, retail and hotel accommodations.
