The Kansas City Southern (KCS)  Holiday Express Train will be chugging towards Mena on December 13. Plans are for the train to arrive at 4 p.m. at the Mena Depot. The Holiday Express is a six-car train that brings Santa and his elves to communities throughout the U.S.

This is the 14th year the Holiday Express, which is led by KCS’ Southern Belle business train, has made its holiday venture. The train will stop in 21 towns in seven states. Each event is free and open to the public to enjoy.

At each stop, visitors can board the train and tour the inside of three of the train’s cars. The train has six lighted cars with different themes. This includes a smiling tank car “Rudy”, a flatcar carrying Santa’s sleigh and reindeer, a ginger bread boxcar, an elves’ workshop, the reindeer stable, and a little red caboose. The Mena Depot is a restored historic Kansas City Southern depot and currently serves as a museum of local history. For more details call 479-394-8355 or check out visitmena.com.
