Little Piney Creek
What to know
A smaller and a little less rambunctious than the Big Piney, the Little Piney has Class I to II whitewater at its peak. It flows through Johnson County in the Ozark National Forest and is noted for its green color. The creek has no major hazards for experienced floaters but debris from dead trees and such can cause some problems along the way.
One access point is Ark. 123 about five miles below the National Forest Road 1004 put-in. You can choose from trips of five, seven or 12 miles. There are no riverside campgrounds but Long Pool, a U.S.D.A. Forest Service campground, and Moore Outdoors Campground Dover are located close by. You can also rent canoes, rafts and sit-on-tops kayaks, plus all the other necessities, at Moore Outdoors. Shuttle service is available.
