How can you find out if a stream is considered navigable so you can wade fish without trespassing?

Always check with the landowner before fishing. And please, never, ever trespass on private property; not only is it illegal, it damages the reputation of the fishing community. 

Where can I obtain a fishing license?

The easiest way is to get one online here. Remember, anyone 16 or older needs a license, and trout fishing requires a trout stamp.

Where’s the best place to fish for beginners?

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Family and Community Fishing Ponds are a great place to start. Check here for a location near you.

Where are the best spots to fish for trout?

If you’re looking to fish tailwaters, try the following locations:

  • Table Rock

  • Greers Ferry

What kinds of interesting fish can you catch in Arkansas?

We think all fish are interesting to catch, but there are a few particularly unique species, such as alligator gar (you’ll need a permit to keep 36”+), paddlefish and a wide variety of trout.
