Craighead Forest Lake
What to know
Looking for a vacation destination with swimming, fishing, hiking and camping facilities? Centerpiece of this 692-acre city park in the heart of Jonesboro on Crowley’s Ridge is Craighead Forest Lake.
The 60-acre lake is stocked regularly by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission with bass, bream, crappie and tilapia. Docks, jetties or boats provide access to the resident fish. Boats are allowed during daylight hours only and there is a “no wake” rule which is enforced at all times. A Family Fishing Area is located near Rotary Centennial Park and is fully accessible. The Game and Fish Commission stocks this area with more brim, bass and catfish, while adding trout in the winter and tilapia in the summer. Anyone can fish this area as long as they have a child with them.
Other park facilities include camping, picnic areas including six large pavilions, grills, bathhouse; walking, hiking, ATV and biking trails, plus spots for basketball, softball, horseshoes and disc golf. Rotary Centennial Park is designed to be accessible to everyone and includes a playground, a bankshot basketball court and a splash pad. A castle playground is located at Access #3 and is accessible for all.
Exit 1B from U.S. 63 and follow the signs along Ark. 163 South to 4910 South Culberhouse Road. Contact the park manager at 870-933-4604.
