What to know

Less than half an hour outside of downtown Little Rock, you’ll find 15 miles of singletrack winding its way through the more than 2,300 acres of leafy and piney green space that is Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The park gets its name from the cone-shaped peak of the mountain that rises more than 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River. The trail system is hidden in the wooded hillsides that surround it.

Beginners can get their feet wet on Coachwhip, where the singletrack is wide and rolling with optional rock features to build skills. More experienced riders will enjoy the Jackfork and Dynamite trails which weave their way through tall trees, lush lowlands and eventually exposed ridges dotted with cacti. For those who want to take it up a notch, there are plenty of technical rock features and jumps to keep things interesting. There are also seven downhill-only lines throughout the park to suit riders ranging from those just learning to ride through bermed turns, to those looking for something steep and technical, to those looking for jumps.

Aside from riding, we also recommend doing the 1.5-mile roundtrip hike to the top of Pinnacle Mountain to take in a panorama of the eastern slopes of the Ouachita Mountain range. Then head to Argenta in North Little Rock for dinner and local brews, or set up camp at the Maumelle Recreation Area and Campground.
