Things to do in Springdale
Downtown is the place to catch a ride on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad in a beautifully restored turn-of-the-century passenger car. This scenic excursion train travels through the foothills of the Ozark Boston Mountains passing over high trestles and through a tunnel.
The area is also home to the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, which has interpretive programs and historical exhibits about the region along with buildings dating back to the 1850s. After a little history, head to The Jones Center, a premier recreation center featuring Northwest Arkansas’s only indoor ice-skating rink, two indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness center, food court, pump track and more. The Arts Center of the Ozarks rounds out the offerings with dramas, musicals and gallery showings.
The downtown is full of attractions, shops and eateries, and is connected to the Razorback Regional Greenway, making it a great stopping off point for those riding bikes through the area.
On the other side of town is the Northwest Arkansas Naturals minor league baseball team based at Arrest Ballpark. The team is a member of the Texas League and serves as the Double-A affiliate for the Kansas City Royals.
For outdoor lovers, the Ozark Highlands Nature Center is a 61-acre complex with an outdoor 3D archery range, a northern bobwhite education pavilion, walking and biking trails, a 25-acre native tall grass prairie restoration project, native demonstration gardens, outdoor classrooms, indoor archery range, and state-of-the-art exhibits.
