The Crawford County Arts & Crafts Festival is set for Sept. 4-6 in Van Buren. More than 50 vendors from a three-state area set up booths. The event includes a carnival for kids. It is held at Lake Lou Emma Park, located just north of Interstate 40 on Ark. 59. There is no admission charge. Visit www.vanburen.org or call 479-474-8322 for more information.

The Wilson SW Entergy Fishing Tournament is set for Sept. 11 at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville. The base location is the tournament weigh-in pavilion at Lake Dardanelle State Park. Lake Dardanelle’s 34,000 acres offer a fishery which is extremely healthy and varied. Fishermen from all over the world come here, and are continually surprised not only by the size of their catch, but by how Lake Dardanelle State Park uses conservation techniques to help keep the fishery so strong. The 30th annual Arkansas Championship Grape Stomp & Cowie Wine Fest is celebrated Sept. 11 at Cowie Wine Cellars near Paris. Activities include blessing of the new wine, grape stomping, live music, games, food, and tours of the Arkansas Historic Wine Museum. The event begins at noon. It ends at 6 p.m. with the “Ringing of the Bells,” 26 large church bells. Cowie is located three miles west of Paris on Ark. 22 at Carbon City. Visit www.cowiewinecellars.com or call 479-963-3990.

The Old Town Cruisers Car Show is an annual event for Van Buren. This year it takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lining historic Main Street are pre-1973 antique cars, trucks and specialty vehicles. Visit www.vanburen.org or call 479-471-8350 for more information.

Featuring antique and classic cars and trucks, the 8th annual Rods & Ribs Car Show & BBQ is set for Sept. 18 in Ozark. Ribs are provided by Rivertowne BBQ on the square in downtown Ozark. The event includes entertainment by a classic rock disc jockey, as well as music by Bob Gary and Family. Admission is free. Call 479-667-2525 for details.

Cruise along the waters of Lake Fort Smith and view a planetary rarity during the Planet Jupiter Cruise on Sept. 21 in Mountainburg. Lake Fort Smith State Park is offering this cruise because the planet Jupiter will be the closest to earth that it has been in 40 years. Reservations are suggested and can be made at the marina. The cost is $8.50 for adults, and $4.50 for children ages 6-12. This is a weather-dependent event and may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Call 479-369-2469 for reservations and details.

The Museum of Automobiles will hold its 13th annual Fall Swap Meet on Sept. 22-25 on Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton. Classic and vintage vehicles from all over the region will be on display. More than 1,000 spaces will be filled with cars, parts, antiques, arts and crafts, and other automobile related items. Admission is free. The 4th annual Plainview Frontier Day on Sept. 25 is a day of family-fun with activities for all ages. There will be a parade, frontier town to tour, local entertainment, 5K, barbecue cook-off, barbecue dinner, bingo, children’s game tent, turtle races, water balloon toss, hog calling contest, 3-on-3 basketball, horseshoe pitch, antique cars, and more.
